Shoreline Fire Department wants to make
sure your children and family are protected
from a deadly or destructive house fire.
We have a free smoke detector program that
you may qualify for.
Senior citizens
over the age of 65 and families with young
children should contact us for more
information.
Reports from the United
States Fire Administration (USFA) show that
2,500 children under the age of 14 and 2,300
adults over the ago of 65 were injured or
killed in residential fires in 2002. A
substantial number of these deaths and
injuries would not have occurred had there
been working smoke detectors in the home.
THE FIRE ALARM BEEPS, BUT
THEY DIDN'T WAKE UP
We all know smoke detectors are
the first line of defense in a fire. But a KOMO
4 News investigation found something that
surprised parents; When it
comes to your kids, smoke detectors don't always
wake them up. But you can do something about it!
Sometimes all it takes is a home fire escape
drill to familiarize your family with the sound
of the alarm. Here's more on
fire escape planning and practicing at home!
