Shorewood Students Receive Shoreline Fire Scholarships

 

 

Two students from Shorewood High School are the recipients of the 2002 Shoreline Firefighters Association and the Anthony Kinney Foundation scholarships.

 

Kristen Wright was selected to receive the $500.00 Anthony Kinney Scholarship.  The award is intended for a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career the in the medical or health sciences field.  Kristen plans to go into speech pathology and hopes to someday work with elementary school age and developmentally delayed children.  She maintains a 3.96 grade point average and is involved in numerous volunteer activities.

 

Leila Cook received the $1,000.00 Shoreline Firefighters Association scholarship.  Leila plans to be a pediatrician, and hopes to spend part of her career providing medical care in under-developed countries.  She maintained a 3.8 grade point average while serving over 350 hours of volunteer service Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle.
