GARAGE AND CAR DESTROYED BY FIRE IN SHORELINE

A two alarm fire in Shoreline today destroyed a detached garage and an automobile – but luckily the blaze was controlled before it spread to the Innis Arden home.

Shoreline firefighters were called to 181st Street and 14th Avenue NW at approximately 9:00 a.m. when the homeowner reported his garage on fire.   Several neighbors also called, reporting flames and smoke visible extending into tall trees near the home.

A second alarm brought crews from Northshore, Edmonds, and Seattle Fire departments to assist.  The fire was under control in about 20 minutes.

The 89 year-old homeowner was not hurt, and there were no injuries to firefighters during the incident.

Investigators say the fire began in the man’s car.  The man apparently started his vehicle and went back into the house for a few minutes.  When he returned to the garage, it was fully involved in flames.
