GARAGE FIRE SEVERELY DAMAGES RICHMOND BEACH HOME

Shoreline Fire Investigators are looking for the cause of an early morning fire that consumed three vehicles and destroyed a detached garage at a Richmond Beach residence located at NW 201st and 23rd Ave NW.

The fire broke out around 4:15am on
October 21st.  Several neighbors saw flames and smoke billowing from the garage and called 9-1-1.  Shoreline fire crews arrived at the scene to find the garage and vehicles fully involved in fire, with flames visible from several blocks away.

The fire extended from the garage to the east side of the house and sections of the attic when fire crews arrived.  They were able to control the fire in about 30 minutes, and stop it from spreading throughout the residence.  It took another two hours to fully extinguish the blaze.

There was extensive fire, smoke, and water damage to the side of the home that was exposed to the garage fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire.  The homeowners are reportedly on vacation.

Shoreline Fire was assisted by crews from Northshore and Edmonds Fire Departments.  There were no injuries during the incident.

A damage estimate was not available, and the investigation into the cause could take several days.
