Three
people hospitalized after Shoreline House Fire
A fire in a Richmond Beach home this morning
caused major damage to the structure and sent
two adults and one child to the hospital for
possible smoke inhalation.
The fire broke out around
9:00 a.m. at the home in the area of 185th
and 2nd Avenue Northwest. The
occupants called 9-1-1 saying there was fire in
their basement – but when first crews arrived
they saw smoke and fire coming from the roof of
the one-story home as well.
All available Shoreline
firefighters were called to the scene and
received assistance from Northshore and Seattle
fire. They had the fire fully extinguished
within about 20 minutes.
The 2 adults and 1 child
were taken by ambulance to Northwest hospital as
a precaution due to smoke inhalation during
their escape. Other occupants were not home at
the time of the fire.
Shoreline Fire investigators say the fire was
unintentional, possibly caused by a combustible
coming into contact with an unprotected bulb in
a halogen desk lamp.
The Red Cross is assisting
the residents, as the home is unable to be occupied due
to fire damage.
