ARSON ALARM HOTLINE
Since 1978, the
Arson Alarm Foundation has sponsored a toll-free Arson Hotline for Washington residents to report information about suspected arson fires. Perhaps you witnessed or heard something suspicious just before or after a fire. You might have discovered a clue that could help investigators.
If so, call the Arson Hotline:
1-800-55-ARSON.
You don't have to be certain your information is
important. You don't even have to leave your
name. Simply call the Arson Hotline 24 hours a
day, and your information will be promptly given
to the appropriate authorities. You could make
the difference between a crime going unsolved
and putting an arsonist behind bars.
If you see any suspicious
activity remember to call
9-1-1
immediately.
OUTDOOR BURNING IS OUT
State law prohibits
outdoor
fires in urbanized areas (incorporated cities,
suburbs and adjacent areas).
- Smoke from outdoor
burning of yard debris is a
health threat to you
and your neighbors.
- Smoke from burning
branches, grass and twigs
contains
toxic compounds known
to cause cancer.
- Infants, small children,
people over 50 and people
with ailments such as asthma
and emphysema are especially
sensitive to smoke.
- Thousands of calls are
placed annually to local
fire departments by people
who are being "smoked out"
of their homes by their
neighbors.
-
Smoke
from outdoor fires
contributes significantly to
air pollution.
