BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Fire Commissioners are elected
officials responsible for providing general
direction in the areas of financial management,
administration and policy adoption for the Fire
Department. A Fire
Commissioner's term is held for 6 years.
The
board meets at 5PM on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of
the month at the Headquarters Station: 17525
Aurora Ave North, Shoreline, WA 98133.

Jim Fisher
Term Expires - December 31st, 2013
Jim
was elected to his first term as commissioner in
November of 2001. Jim served for 27 years with
the Shoreline Fire Department, retiring at the
rank of Captain in September of 1999.
Jim was born in Seattle on February 14th, 1942
and resided in the Ballard area until 1972 when
he and his family moved to the Shoreline area. He and his wife Patti have been married 35
years, have three children and two
grandchildren, all of whom reside in or around
Seattle.
Mr. Fisher graduated from Blanchet High
School in Seattle in
1960. He served from 1960 to 1964 on active duty
with the United States Marine Corps. From 1964
to 1970 he was employed in a small printing
business working as a typesetter and pressman.
Between 1970 and 1972 he worked for the
Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a millwright. In
1972 he again chose public service by going to
work for the Shoreline Fire Department. While working in the fire service, he
attended North Seattle Community College and
earned his AA degree in Fire Command and
Administration. He worked his way up through the
ranks starting out as a firefighter/EMT, then
Inspector and finally retiring as the Fire
Marshal for Shoreline. In 1997, he was awarded
Employee of the Year by the Shoreline Fire
Department.
Mr. Fisher is currently an active member of
the National Fire Protection Association
(International Fire Marshals Section) and
maintains his current certification in the fire
code. He is also a charter member of the
Washington State Association of Fire Marshals.

Scott Keeny
Term Expires - December 31st, 2009

Scott was appointed to the Board in February
1995, elected to fill the un-expired term in
1996 and was re-elected to fill six-year terms
in 1998 and 2003.
Scott Keeny has lived in Shoreline for 28 years.
He is a retired certified Project Manager from
AT&T and Lucent Technologies.
Commissioner Keeny serves on the City of
Shoreline Emergency Management Council.
He is President of the
Shoreline-LFP
Senior Center.
He has also served as president of the Richmond
Beach Community Association and the Shoreline-LFP
Arts Council. He is the assistant team leader
for the Shoreline Auxiliary Communications
Service group and is a licensed amateur radio
operator, call sign KD7NAX. Scott’s interest in
the fire service goes back several years when he
was a volunteer member of a suburban fire
department in
Kansas City
and a registered EMT.

Jon Kennison
Term Expires - December 31st, 2011
Jon
was appointed to the Board in September of 1986
to fill an unexpired term. He was re-elected to
fulfill six-year terms for 1993, 1999 and 2005. Jon
was raised in and attended school in the
Shoreline community.
Jon Kennison's past community involvement
includes being a youth soccer, basketball, and baseball
coach. He also was co-founder of the
"Shoreline Christmas Program".
Fire service community involvement
includes past participation as Chairman of the Board,
Shoreline Commissioner Representative to the
King County Commissioners for 16 years, and
appointment to the King County EMS Task Force by
County Executive Gary Locke in 1995.
